About Board Banger

Board Banger is a design-led celebration of tabletop culture - minimal apparel, homeware, and art crafted for people who think deeply, play passionately, and appreciate subtlety over spectacle.

The project is created by Mark Hanlon, an artist and designer whose early love of fantasy, sci-fi, and tabletop worlds shaped his imagination long before he entered the creative industries.

At a young age, Mark spent hours absorbed in games like Blood Bowl and Space Hulk - those early encounters with rules, tension, and miniature narratives planted the seeds for a lifelong connection to play.

Years later, a session of Dead of Winter pulled him fully into the world of modern board gaming. The atmosphere around the table - the shared focus, the storytelling, the emotional stakes - revealed just how meaningful tabletop games could be, and it became the spark for what would become Board Banger.

Mark has worked professionally in textiles and art since 2002, creating graphic rugs, woven tapestries, and contemporary abstract work rooted in storytelling and precision. Board Banger is where these disciplines meet: a fusion of design craft and the culture of play.

The project distils the atmosphere of game night into a visual language - the geometry of tiles, the rhythm of engine-building, the anticipation before a dice roll lands, the quiet satisfaction of a hand built with intention. These mechanics and moments become refined graphic forms, symbols, and objects.

Not loud graphics. Not parody. Not merch.

But quiet signals - minimal embroidered icons, bold prints, and design pieces recognised only by those who know. Work that doesn’t shout your hobby, but honours it.

Board Banger extends the feeling of play into everyday life: the connection, the tension, and the shared imagination found around the table.

Art for players who love to play.
